English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
If you want general support with your English, whether it is writing, speaking, listening, or reading that needs work, I am an experienced and certified EFL teacher.
I have worked with students based across 6 continents, helping to improve their pronunciation, grammar, listening, writing, reading, and speaking skills.
For lots of my EFL students the first step is confidence. This is often the biggest barrier to learning a language, largely because people are so afraid of making mistakes. Making mistakes is a key part of learning a language; I ensure all my students feel comfortable enough to get things wrong! Unless you make mistakes, it is really difficult to improve.
I currently work with students aged 5 to 65, largely based in Hong Kong and Asia. I also work with people based in the UK who want to improve their English in order to pursue new career opportunities or just feel more natural in their day-to-day lives.
IELTS
The IELTS test is an exam from the British Council which is needed in order to study at universities in the UK, Canada, USA, Australia, and New Zealand. It is also required as part of the application for British Citizenship. It can be taken repeatedly, and is available to sit regularly across the UK and other countries with testing centres.
Many of my students have scored very highly in their IELTS exams. A recent student began with me after getting 4 on their first attempt at the IELTS. Six months later, she scored an incredible 8.5. I have had students go on to study at schools and universities in the UK, Australia, and USA after working with me to prepare for the IELTS.
I know the test and its rubric really well, along with as the tricks and tips to help get you the score you need.
